How I Plan to Save Money in 2016

Saturday, January 16, 2016

Are you ever telling yourself you are going to save money? But then you get into your savings and take money out? This year I want to be better at this thing called "saving". I am now nineteen and I have a lifetime ahead of me. I need to start while I can and be okay. I do still live at home so I don't have to buy groceries yet or pay any rent. We both know that won't last forever. This year I want to get my savings to be nice to look at but not touch.

Heres how I plan to save:

  1. I will put 10% of my paychecks and round to the nearest dollar. Sounds small and many stupid but if I succeed that's roughly an extra $12 by the end of the year!

  2. This doesn't mean I can't spoil myself throughout the year. If I reach certain amounts I will try to give myself a reward either buying myself something. Or if the motivation is on fire I will add maybe 11% or 12%! It all just depends how I kick my butt to do this!

  3. I will write down how much my paychecks are to the penny and how much I put into my savings. At this moment I work two jobs and sometimes babysit, that means I will be putting back from three sources. I think I can do this! Then the other 90% takes care of gas and any other things I am wanting to buy then.

  4. Lastly I will not beat myself up at this. Its saving for now, I may not always put it in on time or the correct amount. This is just my goal for this year and how I plan to succeed.

How do you save? I would like to know! I have seen the 52 week challenge, I had thought about it. Then again I don't want to follow a chart. If you have succeeded saving over a long period of time let me know what you did and how it went!
