I can't say enough great things about blogging. The community, opportunities, photo shoots, and all the fun you have! Today I wanted to give you the key tips on how to start a blog! These are just my tips off of experiencing and researching while I was starting out.
- WordPress. All the way start with WordPress. I did not start with Blogger, but I read on many blogs that you need to start with WordPress. You can read more on the pros and cons here.
- Be patient. I can't stress this enough, there have been times where I wished I would get better at blogging. I learned over time different things. When I first started out I took my pictures in my room with a window mount that held my phone. I have come a long way from those days. I now have my mom take my photos, which we go places around my town. It is so nice to have someone who can help you with being on the other side of the camera. And yes I use my iPhone to take my pictures, which I think they turn out great! For still being a beginner I don't have the money to invest in a nicer camera yet. So still on that note of being patient.
- The Golden Rule. Treat others how you want to be treated in return. If you want people to comment on your posts, yes you can ask, but go comment on others as well! That is also another way of meeting people who are blogging as well!
- Be yourself! This one is a given and you don't have to do anything except be your true self! Show your personality in what you put on the internet. Don't try to be someone else because in the end it will never be your true work.
- Buy a Domain and Host with HostGator. I host my blog through HostGator and bought my domain through them as well. It's easy to use HostGator and you pay monthly instead of yearly like on others.
- Find your niche. This is an important one. Don't blog about something you don't enjoy! This goes back to being yourself! If I don't like sports, I wouldn't blog about it. Once you find your place I would stay with it.
- Free Themes. If you are still just starting out, there are so many places you can get cute FREE WordPress themes. I found most of mine from Pinterest.
- My Last Tip. It to not compare yourself to other bloggers! You will not be like that one blogger you just love. Know why? Because you have to be yourself in your blog! If one blogger does something that does NOT mean you have to! Your blog is your own place - keep it that way. It is okay to brainstorm from others but create your own unique content and don't want to be like others.
